ABA Therapies

Many of the interventions used with children with autism are based on the theory of Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA). This theory is based on the idea that behavior rewarded is more likely to be repeated (and therefore ultimately, shaped or changed) than behavior ignored. ABA is a theory that informs many approaches to autism interventions although the term is often used as the description of the program.

Some of the more common approaches to autism interventions using the theory of ABA include:

Discrete Trial Training
Incidental Teaching
Pivotal Response Therapy
Verbal Behavior
